My Story:
I have lived in Hopkinsville all of my life--actually within a one mile radius. I know that sounds kind of sad, but I don't doubt that I'm right where God wants me to be. I grew up in a large family as the youngest of six children. I was blessed to be raised by wonderful Christian parents who took us to church every week and taught us by example the importance of having God in our lives.
One Easter Sunday when I was 14, I felt Jesus tugging at my hearstrings. Our pastor did an "every head bowed, every eye closed" moment and asked us to raise our hands if we felt Jesus tugging at our heart. I raised my hand, but then selfishly stayed glued to my pew during the invitation. The following Saturday the pastor paid a visit to our home and there on my living room floor I finally surrendered to the Lord. The Lord blessed us doubly that day. . .my older brother also gave his life to Christ as well.
The following day I made my profession public (the walk down the ailse was so much easier than I had thought just a week ago) and soon followed in baptism. Out little country church didn't have a baptismal so we had to go to one of the church's in town for that. About 3 years later during a "pack a pew" night at a local church's revival I met my wonderful husband Patrick. We were married 5 years later and the Lord has blessed us with 2 precious children. God has given me a great passion for children. I am so blessed to be able to work with them in my secular job, as well as through the children's ministry at Eastview. I think we get our best view of who Jesus is through the precious eyes of the children. As Jesus himself stated in Luke 18:17 "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." It has been and continues to be my privilege to teach children about Jesus and who He is, but I also know that God uses them to teach me about Himself and who He is.
